Here are some photos of my short stay at the airfield (Aérodrome Le Fay) at Issoudun, France, where some people of Soaring Club Albatros were taking a flying vacation (or rather, soaring). We visited them for about 5 days, a bit after the ending of this year's soaring camp at Kiewit. We stayed over at the adjacent camp site, in a sort of chalet, which was pretty much a few rooms hammered together inside the briefing room building.
The weather was wonderful: it was pretty warm, a bit too windy at times, but still better and a whole lot more pleasant than back in Belgium (or so I've been told).
The accommodations on the other hand were a bit on the precarious side: it was old, damp, uncomfortable, and worse. It was typical gloomy rural French (not that I really know what that looks like, but if I were to imagine it, that would probably be it). Even worse were the toilets (no true seat), and showers; they were no fun. The kitchen was also not very good-looking, which was troubling as we had to cook for ourselves.
Aside of the air field, there wasn't a whole lot to do either. One day, we visited the neighboring town of Châteauroux. Aside of a museum, and a few churches, there's not much to see and do there, other than plainly wasting time.
Now, the cooking, was fun though. We (myself not included, as I wouldn't know how) managed to make some very nice meals, with the little things we had, and buying the ingredients in the local super market.
And about food, the last night we went out to a little typical French town, called Lignières. In a little restaurant we had a very good meal for a mere 17 euros, which is typical for this region (it's not centered on tourism, so prices are quite fair).
Anyway, here are a few photos of the Issoudun experience. Sorry about the quality: they're taken by my cell phone as I managed to forget my camera.
